Massimo Anfossi

Massimo Anfossi is a pianist whose career, spanning over thirty years, has been devoted to researching and rediscovering early twentieth-century Italian chamber repertoire, as well as lesser-known works by Beethoven. His achievements include world-premiere recordings, such as the previously unpublished Fantasia Biamonti 213, performed at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn and awarded by the magazine Musica, along with CDs dedicated to Muzio Clementi, Francesco Cilea, and Bruno Bettinelli.

On April 25, 2004, a concert was held on the fortepiano by Conrad Graf that once belonged to Beethoven, at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn.

Massimo Anfossi prepared a modern edition of the manuscript, closely following the original indications.

Perhaps shortly before leaving for Vienna, or perhaps already in Vienna, Beethoven left behind this extended sketch for piano, which outlines a Sonata in three movements.
